Spokane Valley Rathdrum Prairie Aquifer

The Spokane Valley Rathdrum Prairie (SVRP) Aquifer was designated a “sole source aquifer” in 1978 by the Environmental Protection Agency. This means that the SVRP aquifer is the only source of drinking water for over 500,000 residents and businesses in northern Idaho and eastern Washington. The Aquifer Atlas is a collaborative project between Idaho and Washington to share aquifer protection information.  Readers will find interesting sections on aquifer formation, history and culture, aquifer details, aquifer protection and stewardship.  The Aquifer Atlas was first developed in 2000 with updates occurring in 2004, 2009 and 2015.  Each atlas includes the latest information at the time of printing.  Click on the links below to view or download each atlas.
