Reclaimed Water

hayden-area-regional-sewer-boardHayden Area Regional Sewer Board (HARSB) Water Reuse Program. JANUARY 14, 2014, HARSB Administrator, Ken Windram.
Why water reuse?  NPDES permit requires no Spokane river discharge when river flows are less than 2,000 CFS at the Post Falls gage. HARSB’s water reuse farm includes 246 acres of livestock crops and 57 acres in poplar trees. Average water consumption for crops is 13 inches per acre. Poplar trees uptake, on average, 25 inches per acre. Reuse Farm issues include: leased crop land to a farmer, bugs and harvesting poplar trees.  HARSB is working with Advanced Hardwood Biofuels Northwest for harvesting the poplars.
